Flynn, two of his brothers, their families, and retired CIA have all moved in down here in SW FL. Some of these individuals are moving into a gated community adjacent to our favorite wine bar. One of these individuals, retired CIA, made the mistake of trying to recruit us to join in meetings with Flynn who is supposedly in conversations with Trump daily. My response to the guy was, “We appreciate your service, but from where I sit our tax dollars already paid for your entire career, all your training, all your medical, and all your benefits. So, if I were you instead of rolling in here trying recruit people to attend meetings and pay more money, I would be rolling in here paying everybody’s tab and thanking them for subsidizing my entire life.” So, now I am a troublemaker.
Meanwhile, my wife tells me my take on Flynn being DIA is so convoluted it must be ridiculous. Yet, all the newspaper articles down here keep portraying Flynn as a victim, just like the media did for five years when he was supposed to be THE bad ass to drain the swamp who ended up getting a pass for all five years by being portrayed a victim, supposedly bankrupt yet obviously wealthy enough to build a brand new house in the best gated community in the same town as our fave wine bar.
So, I agreed to not talk about Flynn on the drive home from the wine bar because it’s a buzz kill for her, even though all the guys down there are asking me how the fuck did I have balls to take on a retired CIA guy and tell him to keep his distance, we are not interested, and please remain cordial from across the room. Meanwhile, retired CIA guy refuses to be cordial from across the room. So, I keep my eyes peeled for creepy white vans.

It may be time to find a new favorite wine bar…..

Fuck that! Look, when we moved back home to Florida in summer 2019, I named my screaming-ass Internet WiFi “The Alamo at Venice” specifically because we are not moving again, intentionally. And to me the same idea applies to our fave wine bar. These invading D.C. types trying to scam us and scheme us out of more dough makes me ill. But here’s the thing, and it is just like Mike says, these people are cowards and they cower in fear at the first sight of push back. And I do not want to jinx it, so I am knocking on wood, but since I confronted the retired CIA guy they have been seen once when the natural order of things is we regulars are down there twice a month minimum. And that one time they were there with them, the old man never made eye contact with me, on purpose from what I gathered from his body language. Because again, it is just like Mike talks about, not in so many word, but one secret to life is learning how to read people’s eyes, facial expressions, and other body language. And what I will not share here is what he whispered in my ear and what I immediately whispered back when I surprised him with a hug and showered him with praise for service to our country, essentially dropping mental Jujutsu on his ass. Now, we don’t see him up there handing out personalized pens, mouse pads, business cards with addresses of their primary house and guest house, etc. Still knocking on wood so as not to jinx it, but to date, so far, so good.
