Plastics shortage
I have a friend who works in the plastics industry. She told me about something she’d heard about but was given little to no media attention. Though this particular situation happened in June, I do remember hearing about a carrier that sank in Sri Lanka. What I remember was that it was a chemical/oil spill. What I didn’t realize was that there were also several metric tons of HDPE plastic “pellets” aboard as well. The type that are used in the food industry for a myriad of products. Once it went in the water it became contaminated. That plastic is also used in, you guessed it, computer chips.
