The ‘Shortage Economy’ Will Hit Us Just in Time for Christmas –  According to economists, we’re at the beginning of a “shortage economy” where shortages of goods like electronics and clothing will become commonplace.

Yes, the pandemic is partly to blame. Factories shut down and are just now revving up to full capacity. The “supply chain bottleneck” has become a fact of life. September Jobs Numbers ‘Worst Of The Year’ As U.S. Struggles: ‘It’s A Pretty Worrying Situation’ – The new September jobs report numbers, released on Friday, proved yet another disaster for the Biden administration to contend with, as business analysts labeled the numbers the “worst” of the year and revealed that labor shortages are “getting worse.”

“The economy created 194,000 jobs in September, the smallest gain since December 2020 and down from 366,000 jobs added in August,” The Wall Street Journal reported. “Many workers gave up a job search and exited the labor force last month. The smaller pool of labor meant that despite the slowdown in hiring, the unemployment rate fell to 4.8% last month from 5.2% in August.” – READ MORE


Global Food Prices Increased in September, Reached Decade High – Global food prices have reached a decade high and increased for the second month in a row in September, according to a Thursday report from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The FAO Food Price Index (FFPI), which measures the monthly change in international prices of a basket of food commodities, averaged 130.0 points in September 2021 — that rate is 32.1 points higher than the same month last year and up 1.5 points from August. The FFPI has not reached these levels since 2011 when it hit 131.9. – READ MORE


Increase Meat and Dairy Prices to Tackle Climate Change, Cambridge Report Demands – A report produced by Cambridge University academics has called for foods with so-called high carbon footprints, such as dairy and meat, to be made more expensive in order to save the planet.

The Cambridge University-led study published by the British Medical Journal (BMJ) says that “education” alone on changing diets towards more plant-based habits and abandoning car ownership is not enough. – READ MORE

Feds: America’s Elite Now Hold More Wealth than Entire Middle Class – The top one percent of richest Americans now hold more wealth than the entire American middle class, data from the Federal Reserve reveal.

The data, published in Bloomberg, show that the middle class — defined as 60 percent of United States households in the middle of all income brackets — has seen its share of national wealth plummet to just 26.6 percent. – READ MORE


Several Nordic Countries Pause Moderna Vaccine In Young People Over Link To Heart Inflammation – Several Nordic countries have paused the use of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine on younger people over concern the shot may be linked to a rare heart problem in young people.

Sweden’s health ministry announced on Wednesday that it was pausing injections of Moderna’s vaccine for those aged 30 and younger. Denmark announced a similar pause for those aged 18 and younger, according to Bloomberg. – READ MORE


New York Times Forced to Admit It Inflated Number of Children Hospitalized by COVID to 14 Times Higher than Reality – The New York Times was forced to issue a correction admitting it had inflated the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations of children by more than 800,000.

The Times published an article Wednesday discussing the possibility of single-dose COVID-19 vaccines for children. In the original version, reporter Apoorva Mandavilli wrote that “[n]early 900,000 children have been hospitalized with Covid-19 since the pandemic began.” – READ MORE


“Proceed With Caution At Your Own Peril” – Merck’s COVID ‘Super Drug’ Poses Serious Health Risks, Scientists Warn – As it turns out, all the scientists and doctors who insisted that Merck’s “revolutionary” COVID drug molnupiravir is extremely safe weren’t faithfully adhering to “the science” after all. Because according to a report published Thursday by Barron’s, some scientists are worried that the drug – which purportedly cut hospitalizations in half during a study that was cut short – could cause cancer or birth defects.

So much for having a “strong safety profile,” as Dr. Scott Gottlieb claimed in an interview on the day Merck first publicized the research. – READ MORE


American Airlines to Employees: Get Vaccinated or Face Firing – American Airlines set an official deadline for its Chinese coronavirus vaccine mandate for employees, the Charlotte Observer reported.

According to the Observer, the airline sent an email to all of its U.S. employees on Wednesday telling them they must be fully vaccinated by November 24 or face getting fired. – READ MORE


Seattle Police Department Facing Public Safety Emergency Due to Mayor’s Vaccination Mandate – Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan has ordered all police officers in the department to receive a COVID-19 vaccination or face termination. The Seattle Police Department said that there are still over 200 officers who haven’t complied and shown their COVID-19 vaccine paperwork.

As of Thursday October 7, there were a total of 292 officer who haven’t complied or proven their compliance. Of those, 237 are patrol officers. – READ MORE

U.S. Universities Control Students with Online Reporting Systems, from Protecting ‘Identities’ to Doxing Unvaccinated – Students who log on to their college or university’s website will discover more than admission forms and curriculum choices. On many campuses online portals allow school officials to keep track of student’s behavior, including responding to threats to safe spaces and students who are have not received the coronavirus vaccine.

Michigan State University’s Culturally Inclusive College Sharing System allows the university to “track and respond to behaviors and situations that work to support or detract from [its] goals of a safe and supportive environment.” – READ MORE


Biden indicates he pressured emergency room to fast-track a ‘good friend’ – President Joe Biden said Thursday he personally reached out to a hospital the night before to ensure the wife of his “good friend” received immediate care because the “waiting room was so crowded.”

“Last night, I was on the telephone with a person at an emergency hospital ward in Pennsylvania because a good friend had called, and he had rushed his significant other to the emergency room because this woman was having trouble breathing, had a high fever, and could not catch her breath,” Biden said during a speech in Illinois promoting COVID-19 vaccine mandates for businesses. “They got her into the hospital. The waiting room was so crowded, things were so backed up they couldn’t even get her to be seen initially. So, because I knew this person, I called. I called the desk receiving nurse and asked what the situation was.” – READ MORE
