Oil Prices Soar Past $81, OPEC+ Won’t Budge From Gradual Supply Increase Despite Demand – On Monday, oil prices soared to the highest point in several years. This news comes as OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) and various allies are maintaining their current strategy of a gradual increase in oil supply, rather than increasing global output as requested by consumers.

“By 8:45 AM ET (1245 GMT), U.S. crude futures were up 1.7% at $77.17 a barrel, climbing to a new seven-year high, while Brent futures were up 1.9% at $80.81 a barrel, surging above $80 again,” explained Investing.com. – READ MORE

Fed Prepares To Launch “Review” Of Central Bank Digital Currency That Could Render Cash, Privacy Obsolete – For years now, and in response to similar projects at central banks in Europe and – more importantly – China with the PBOC, the Fed has been hemming and hawing about whether to take the possibility of creating a “FedCoin” more seriously.

Senior officials have been pretty tetchy about carefully weighing the “pros and cons” of a system that would, in theory, enable the Fed to deposit money directly into the ‘digital wallets’ of regular Americans, a power that could ultimately render the entire private banking system obsolete. – READ MORE

From homeless tents to penthouses with views – A handful of Seattle’s more than 12,000 homeless people will soon be moving from the street to a studio penthouse with a view. The finishing touches are being put on three apartment buildings in Seattle’s pricey Capitol Hill neighborhood, where one of the buildings has stunning views of the Space Needle and Puget Sound.

But instead of being leased at market rates, the 165 units will go to people currently living in tents and in temporary shelters. The city is using a portion of the $1.9 trillion federal COVID relief package known as the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. – READ MORE

Thousands protest Washington state’s vaccine mandate, sing national anthem –Thousands gathered outside of Washington state’s Capitol Building to protest the state’s vaccine mandate, and were heard belting out the national anthem at one point.

“We’re adults and we know how to take care of ourselves,” Kelly Coyle, former state Department of Transportation employee, told The Olympian. “I don’t believe you should force someone to inject something in their body that they don’t want and lose your livelihood.” Coyle said she was forced into early retirement over Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee’s vaccine mandate for state workers. – READ MORE

CDC Recommends ‘Virtual Thanksgiving,’ Reverses Course After Backlash, Claims ‘Mishap’ – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) briefly recommended a “virtual” Thanksgiving for the second year in a row, before quickly reversing their guidance and claiming a “mishap.”

A story from Sinclair Broadcasting Group noted, Tuesday, that the CDC has released guidance for the 2021 holiday season, closely following a suggestion from Dr. Anthony Fauci, the White House’s top advisor on COVID-19 matters, that it may be “too soon to tell” whether Americans can expect to celebrate the Christmas holidays together. – READ MORE

Francis Collins, longtime head of NIH, to resign – Francis Collins, the director of the National Institutes of Health, announced his resignation Tuesday, saying he will step down from his post by the end of 2021.

“I am proud of all we’ve accomplished. Government Debt Is Taxation Without Representation – With Thursday’s passage of a continuing resolution that funds government operations until December 3rd, Congress dodged one fiscal cliff, but a bigger one looms ahead. The federal government has maxed out its credit, and if Congress doesn’t raise the statutory debt ceiling by October 18, the Treasury won’t be able to cover all of Uncle Sam’s obligations.

With Democrats controlling the House, Senate and White House, Republicans have declared they’re leaving it entirely up to the Democrats to raise the ceiling through the budget reconciliation process. Democratic leaders and their media allies claim that would be too complex, time-consuming and risky. – READ MORE
