NYC Could Lose Thirty Percent Of Its Police Force, Fire Department Over Vaccine Mandate – New York City may lose up to 30% of its police force and fire department after October 29 over a mandate that puts officers and firefighters on unpaid leave if they have not received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

“New York City took one of its most aggressive steps yet to increase vaccination rates in a city that was once the epicenter of the pandemic, requiring almost every member of the nation’s largest municipal workforce to get vaccinated by the end of the month or lose their paychecks,” The New York Times reported last week. – READ MORE

Due to staffing shortages expected from the absence of those who are suspended when the mandate kicks in next week, up to 20 percent of New York City’s fire companies and ambulances will be out of service, according to the New York Post. – READ MORE

Poll: Majority of Fully Vaccinated Are Still Wearing Masks – The majority of those who are considered “fully vaccinated” are still wearing masks the bulk of the time when outside their homes, a Yahoo! News/YouGov survey released this week found.

As the Biden Administration and public health officials continue to push for mass vaccinations, originally pitching them as the way to return to pre-pandemic life, a majority of people, including a majority of the vaccinated, are still wearing masks “always” or “most of the time” when outside their home. – READ MORE

Truckers Warn Joe Biden’s Vaccine Mandate Will Worsen Shortages Across the Country – President Biden’s federal vaccine mandate will only worsen existing problems in the supply chain as employees will be faced with losing their job or succumbing to the administrations’ coercive mandates, Republican senators and industry leaders warned on Thursday during a press conference on Sen. Marsha Blackburn’s (R-TN) legislation Keeping Our COVID-19 Heroes Employed Act.

Blackburn held a press conference Thursday with her colleagues Sens. Roger Marshall (R-KS) and Mike Braun (R-IN), as well as key industry leaders, discussing her legislation and the impact the Biden mandates will have on workers and the country as a whole. – READ MORE

Congested Port Of LA Receiving Empty Containers From Gulf, Southeast – American Shipper is reporting another wrinkle facing the Port of Los Angeles as it tries to clear the massive congestion. Thousands of additional empty containers are en route to the Port of Los Angeles from East Coast and Gulf Coast ports.

Over the last couple of weeks, up to 2,000 empty containers originating from the ports of Charleston, South Carolina; Savannah, Georgia; New Orleans and Houston were headed to the Port of Los Angeles to be loaded onto vessels. These containers were requested by the carriers and will create more burden for the port terminals to receive local trucks trying to unload their own empty containers. – READ MORE

Labor Union Opposes Quickly Moving Containers from Cargo Ships Compounding Supply Chain Crisis – A labor union is opposing seaports’ ability to quickly and efficiently move containers from ships to trucks, further compounding the supply chain crisis that is impacting American families and workers across the nation, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

Pacific Maritime Association (PMA), a consortium of 70 companies that negotiates and administers labor agreements with the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), has accused ILWU of refusing to allow upgrades in port technology to move “cargo productively,” PMA spokesman Randy James stated. – READ MORE

Shippers Fear “Catastrophic” Fallout From “Crazy” California Port Fees –

The cure is worse than the disease, say critics of an emergency plan of the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach backed by the Biden administration. If you think port congestion is bad now, just wait for what comes next.

On Wednesday, two days after the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach announced a surprise emergency fee for containers lingering too long at terminals, the National Shippers Advisory Council (NSAC) held its inaugural meeting. NSAC, created to advise the Federal Maritime Commission, is composed of 12 U.S. importers and 12 exporters. Members include heavy hitters like Amazon, Walmart, Target, Office Depot and Ikea. – READ MORE

A Global Oil Shortage Is Inevitable – Chronic underinvestment in new oil supply since the 2015 crisis and the pressure on oil and gas companies to curb emissions and even “keep it in the ground” will likely lead to peak global oil production earlier than previously expected, analysts say.

This would be a welcome development for green energy advocates, net-zero agendas, and the planet if it weren’t for one simple fact: oil demand is rebounding from the pandemic-driven slump and will set a new average annual record as soon as next year. – READ MORE
