Hey Taverneers, the drain did its job. What was enormous swelling earlier this AM was down just about completely by this afternoon. Once the fluid pressure began to drop, Trish woke up and was aware for several hours. She has a hard time speaking, as a food tube is down her throat, and the brain damage from a brain bleed, a brain infection and two brain surgeries in just over a month’s time. But she very hoarsely and brokenly was able to communicate (basically) that in her mind she is forming thoughts that she just cannot make into words. But that she is formulating thoughts, even though she can’t make the words is still monumental in my book. A large part of this is on you all. It really is. Your prayers have not been in vain.

My Trish is still in there; she’s just buried under a mountain of calamity and injury that she’s having a difficult time digging out from under. She was struggling so hard to verbalize today, and having trouble. Trish was getting very frustrated, and I said, “You are working so hard, Sweetheart, but you know what…?” She looked at me quizzically, and I looked deep into her eyes, took her hand and said…(drum roll please), “That ain’t working….” Refer to my earlier (a couple of discussions back) Dire Straits post. Trish laughed as much as is possible, but she got it. Doctors are not the final word….

Btw – music can be super helpful for certain brain injury healing and recovery – when the time is right, if you have the means for her to hear some favorites, i’d def. go for it.

Also – with any kind of infection these days, I hope they have identified the specifics of any pathogen. I would push hard for that information. There’s a tremendous amount of anti-biotic resistance. So again – I refer you to my friend Stephen Harrod Buhner, there are herbs most people have never heard of which over come ALL of the resistance in these pathogens, you just need to know which bug it is in order to treat.
