The Trish Playlist….
Posted by Dana Acker on November 14, 2023 at 8:54 pmHere’s some songs I played for Trish today. This song has a scorching, blistering guitar solo by virtuoso David Hidalgo, who must have melted his strings when he played it. Sorry about the commercials…you gotta suffer if you want to sing the blues. Trish and I went to see Los Lobos on our honeymoon. Loads of memories. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-V1B77VEhs

Here’s another by Los Lobos with Mavis Staples…too much soul for the room. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoDlF_D04Rg

Nice! I got lucky in Chicago to see Los Lobos free in downtown Chicago Blues Fest this summer. It was super! Mavis rocks.

One of Trish’s favorites…they’re all Trish’s favorites. If you’re not familiar with “Train Robbers,” you’re in for a sonic treat. It’s one of the best songs most people have never heard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_3dVLtbMZI

The guitar solos in this one ain’t for sissies either.

“Night of a Thousand Stars;” Robert Hunter, Warren Haynes, Phil Lesh and the boys; it gets no better…. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=984qpD5NBnc

Take your shoes off, you’re almost on holy ground. Some of the most beautiful harmonies ever recorded. The dual guitar solo with Warren Haynes and Jimmy Herring touches glory. There may be guitar play as good, but there’s none better in my opinion. If greatness humbles you to tears this’ll come as close as it gets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeO8SbWB6ZQ

The high backing vocals are Aaron Neville. The impeccable talent is none other than the phenomenal Robbie Robertson…post The Band. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xKY2fcmDMk

Celestial inspirational absolute beauty. Aaron Neville again on the high angelic backing vocals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKndy6bCi9A

He makes it look so effortless. Mark Knopfler is one of the most underrated guitarists in all of rock music; he was one who really could make his guitar “cry or sing….” Making Movies” is one of my favorite records; I’ll play this version of “R&J” for Trish tomorrow. “DJ plays the movies…all night long.” Thanks Brother.

I could puke my guts up into an abandoned toilet in a Mexican alley, and if Emmylou accompanied me, I believe it could make the charts. What a voice! Her work with Bob Dylan on “Desire,” is nothing but magic.

I left St. Lois the city of blues, in the midst of a storm I’d rather forget…..

There’s a lot more, but those should keep you busy for a bit. Maybe some more tomorrow if y’all would like? Chill and peace!

The spirit of faith, is the spirit of victory. Way to blow any stink of frustration out! Well done and rejoice.

Maybe we should retitle this GDT Juke Box. Of course we keep a bucket of quarters on the bar for patrons.😉😎

OK, here’s one more. This is a crazy one, but Trish and I just absolutely love it. Perhaps we need professional help…”Little Debbie, Little Debbie….” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxxTlvlFgXY
