Hi all I am writing from Guam. With no power and limited internet I am thankful for at least listening to Mike on the as free podcast. My normal mornings used to start with the daily video feed as I started my daily routine. This is my first twister type event. I am 61 and never even been in a hurricane. Have a few tornadoes nearby in the past I also have spent years in Iraq and Afghanistan. This recovery reminds me of what we did in the warzone after an “event”. People here are resilient and generally helpful. There are a few flare ups of frustration and such. It will take some time to get back but this is still paradise. Keep us in your prayers. @Mike I might be able to fill you in on events here later. After I get power back. I charge phone at work. And we have water at my home so that is good. I finally got 100% accountability of my 600+ employees so it is a good day. Cheers

If you want perspective. Look up Guam news and what Jesse Alig said. He is the mayor of Piti

My wife and I are generally Ok. We have a couple of employees with total destruction. It is mixed what people are dealing with. Power and water slowly coming back. Internet wonky. Just lots of vegetation removal now for road access and off of power lines. People’s spirits are prett good. Gas lines are reducing. More restaurants opening for take out. We are somewhat concerned that other Americans are so far they don’t really follow what is happening. I think most do not know we are part of the US. But we will be OK. Thanks for any prayers.

Prayers to you & your family. I’ve helped clear tornado damage in ‘80’s….devastating, but rebuilding will happen! God Speed!

Hi from Houston Texas. Cat 5 hurricane is as bad as it gets. Did the hurricane hit you direct or was it a glancing blow? We know what hurricane recovery is like. Will be praying for you.

It was a direct hit and sat over us slowly moving. We have insurance coming out next week. Good and shelters are still operating. FEMA is here as well

We got powe. 41% of people have power. Many don’t have water. We don’t have internet wifi. The cellular internet is a matter of chasing signal. I know we are out of the news. However everyone is working hard to get back to “normal”. Our village mayor has a team retrieving what we call green waste left out near the road. That looks better and makes it safer. We can see so many other distant neighbors and such because of all the downed trees. We appreciate the prayers and support. I’d start a Paine community here but it would just be my wife and me. So I appreciate this community. Also I mentioned I appreciate Mike having a feed for audio in premium because cell internet is still slow but getting better.

We have about 95% restored power. Much of the green is coming back as leaves and all grow. We have big piles of debris sorted. Some tourism has returned. Most businesses have reopened. We are only lacking wifi at home. Insurance has been by and we are getting quotes for repairs. The only appliance I lost due to wonky power was dishwasher. Which I replaced along with adding a new disposal. Cleaned the garage gym and proudly finally used that today. People are helping those that did not fair so well. Rumor is we may see two more severe weather events in a year due to el niño. We’ll see. I don’t think it could be as bad as what we saw with Mawar. Anyway enjoying our time in paradise.

Thank you for the update. Here in the States, I hadn’t heard a peep about Guam. Glad to hear things are starting to settle in, that you and yours persevered and are doing well. Here’s to keepin’ on – take care.
