My sincerest hopes for a safe, restful, mindful, and fun 4th of July to all!!! If you’re into grilling (“barbecuing” for my friends in the North East states) do remember that hot meat grease dripping onto flaming charcoal or propane burners is quite flammable, so make sure the chicken, burgers, brats, or hotdogs are what get cooked, and not you. And, if you’re into shooting off fireworks tonight, may tomorrow morning find you with as many fingers on your hands as you started with this morning. I’m not going to get into a patriotic political rant and ruin everyone’s morning coffee or tea. However, for those who might miss a rousing call to arms against the Empire, or an incitement to toss crates of tea into Boston Harbor, you can scroll through the 9+ pages of previous Green Dragon Tavern discussions from yesteryear, located at the bottom right of this page, and look for two that I started, namely: “Do Not Forget to Fold, Spindle, or Mutilate,” and, “Irish Democracy” or something to those effects to get the old subversive juices flowing. Otherwise bless you all and your loved ones, and have a safe and happy day! We’ll talk again soon. Cheers, Salud, and Slainte!

Correction: the 9+ pages of previous discussions lookup is on the bottom of the main discussion page, not the bottom of this page.

I still am considering how I will approach this day… the tropes and traditions of my youth no longer apply or honor the great writings of the founders that I hold in my heart.

Greetings from Ireland whose Independence Day is 1 July (not Easter 16) and mostly passed without comment.

I have fond memories of Fourth of Julys in the 1950s as well as the April 19th parades I marched in as a Girl Scout past the Lexington Minuteman statue, where the first shot of the American Revolution was fired.

I think a World Revolution, or Western Civilization Revolution is rising in slow motion now. Be mindful, be patient and love those around you. Most importantly: love the least loveable the most. It may change their hearts and will strengthen yours.

    Peace out,

    Babs in Bray

Babs, you speak of slowly rising World Revolution and Western Civilization Revolution, and then you say, “Most importantly: love the least loveable the most.” Pursuing that policy, perhaps a third different Revolution is also slowly rising. Light always chases away the darkness. Hat’s off, Babs!
