Prayers, Dana, for your wife. I know it’s been a long haul. Thanks for the hospital intel. Did I miss that the purple bracelets mean no DNR? I’d not heard of that. After my recent experience when my mom was in the hospital, I can confirm that they push you to move them to hospice as fast as possible. They don’t want you lingering if they think or know there’s no hope. My mother walked into the hospital in pain, but walking, talking, living on her own, driving. She never came out. It was a stunning decline in less than 10 days that even the doctors were surprised about. My goal is to avoid hospitals at all costs. I’m not seeing a lot of people healed in those places.

We didn’t know it either, but at least in our hospital, a purple bracelet means Do Not Resuscitate. No CPR, no defibrillator paddles, nothing. Lights out; good night and good luck.

sending loads of love and positive vibes to you and your wife! Thanks for the hospital info – I’m in North Arizona — we’ve got shit health care here, I’d rather call a used car snake oil salesman for help than go to any hospitals around here. Our new hospital takeover (which ironically started fall of 2019) Dignity Healthcare won’t accept Blue Cross Blue Shield (my insurance) because of some negotiations that didn’t go through so currently they will not honor BCBS insurance contracts from the previous hospital system (YRMC). As of March (I received notification on NEXTDOOR!!!) Dignity in Yavapai County won’t take any blue cross insurance — how convenient!! can’t make this stupid shit up!

Dana stay strong – I know it’s tough right now. I pray for you and Trish! 🙏🤗

In my own estimation, the takeovers started when the government forced out most religious hospitals. The nuns performed charitable care for little money and had ethics. A lot of the reason for pushing religion out of hospitals was the abortion issue.

sounds about right. Mercy in San Diego used to be run by the nuns — that changed by early 2000’s — now it’s Scripps and no more nuns. There was a cross inside the entrance last I was there about 4 yrs ago. Probably will put up a pentagram next year 😫
