Hey Taverneers, This morning I went to wake Trish to give one of her morning meds, and found her completely unresponsive. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital ER, where a CT scan revealed what one neurosurgeon termed “a massive brain bleed,” and “a blood clot in the brain.” They rushed her into surgery where she remained a good part of the day. By God’s grace, I’m thankful to report, she pulled through; they relieved the mounting blood pressure in her brain cavity (which pushed her brain against the opposite side of her skull,) and were able to remove the clot. She remains in a medically induced coma in the ICU until her brain is healed enough to wake her. The neurosurgeons felt good about the surgery, and she will have CT scans every two hours throughout the night. I will meet with the postoperative physicians in the morning to see what’s next. We don’t know the cause, but we “suspect” she may have gotten up during the night and fell. The surgeons said the color of the blood in her brain cavity indicated the injury was within the previous 24 hours. If Trish did fall, she did not make me aware of it, and I never heard it, so unless she remembers upon awaking, we may never know. Your prayers are coveted. Thank you.

Thank you for letting us know. I will focus my energy and love on you and Trish. When your message arrived I was texting a fellow Painiac about consciousness, our minds beyond our brains, the power of knowing these things and our ability to access them… prior to that I was reading about how these factors play into traumatic brain injury and conversely how knowledge/recognition of them can be used therapeutically… that is to heal. This synchronicity, to me, is further evidence of the cohesion, power, value… the special nature of this community that you’ve created. Much love to you and Trish… we’ve got your back.

Thank you for sharing. May you find the strength and wisdom you seek. My grandmother passed from an all out aneurysm in her sleep and remained on life support for a few days. It sounds like you may have caught it fast enough. May there be a full recovery.
