Gentle Admonition….

Hey Taverneers, sorry to have been A.W.O.L.for a bit; I guess the last 8 months caught up with me, and the holes in my boat required more bailing than time for paddling. Today I drove through a small town. Every street light pole had some bright red, white, and blue decoration quite visibly adorning them. As I got closer, I noticed something else. Every bright red, white, and blue decoration also bore the photograph of someone who will not get to share in tomorrow’s festivities. I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but maybe while flipping the chicken, burgers, and hotdogs, or cracking open a cold one tomorrow, a hats off, a raised glass, or a prayer in honor of all of those empty seats around a family table, and all those empty places in someone’s hearts, would more than be in order. There’s a lot of blood that’s been spilt in purchasing our right to celebrate. Let’s not forget who bought that for us. Ask “Fastestinthewest,” if you’re not sure; he can set you straight. Be safe y’all!

    Thank you Dana.

We are usually very low key on Memorial Day and reflect on the people we have known through out the years who have served in the military, those who have died, their families and those who made it back sorely changed for life whether it was physically, mentally and emotionally.

Our son served in the Marine Corps. Some of his graduating Platoon, out of San Diego Marine Corps Recruit Depot, who were deployed sight off to Aftganistan never made it back alive. Those who did, PTSD and the ill effects of multiple vax’s injected into their bodies, along with some of them having had their body parts blown off, makes for a very sobering reality.

Our son had been spared much of the above. Time will tell regarding the vax’s. His MOS was in Avionics state side and then changed/tested up to Embassy MCSG(Marine Corps Security Guard) and served 3 tours overseas. 1st) Manama, Bahrain 2nd) Seoul, South Korea and 3) Abuja Nigeria. Hard for a very white skinned, blue eyed, red haired man to blend into those cultures, as he was instructed. I laughed and thought, let’s just make our boys with targets on their backs really stand out.

For those who don’t know MCSG people are/were trained at Quantico, VA. FBI has to run background checks on everyone connected with that persons life. By the time they spoke to us, they had already spoken with every neighbor we had known since 1987, plus all his tutors/instructors, employers and close friends.

Time for a glass of Redemption.

    God Bless you all

OOPS I read that wrong @RnR … I apologize. I am so glad your son was spared! I pray he stays safe and the Lord is right by his side as he continues forward. Thank him for his service! God bless and once again I apologize for reading that incorrectly, but I am GLAD I was wrong and your son is okay, but so sad for his friends and all who lost their lives so tragically! Hope you have a nice relaxing day tomorrow!

Hi Dana it is nice to hear from you. Sound advice good man. Rather than flipping burgers we will be doing smash burgers on the griddle and certainly taking a moment to pay respect. I was doing more bailing than paddling also, but that tide has finally turned. So stay on course and be well.

Thanks; that’s nice to know. I have 5 more PT sessions left. I can do just about everything I could do before my misstep and resulting surgery. I still can’t tie my shoes; good thing it’s Summer, and sandals time. I’ve got three months to get the tying thing down.😉

@WaywardSon & @dana.acker praying for both of you and your healing! God bless both of you and your families! Thank you for this reminder my friend! This is a VERY somber day, knowing that so many went to die for our freedoms not knowing that they were being thrown into the fire of war to never return. Wiping out our good God fearing, strong young men… being led to slaughter! I was young and dumb and in the Army at 18 years old, but God saved me and I never had to see combat. I would have been happy to follow orders right unto death, thinking I was doing the right thing. I now know all wars are bankers wars and funded on both sides. REALLY sad to see what they do to such promising young men such as your son @RnR ! I am so sorry for your loss, what a bummer! I hope and pray that your other son stays safe out there and that the angels are protecting him in every way, and the Holy Spirit is guiding him into safety with every step and decision he makes! God bless you and thank you for your families service! I am so sorry for your loss once again! Hope you two feel better Wayward and Dana! God bless you both and your families!

Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day are number one and two on my calendar. Sending prayers for those who paid the ultimate price, and those who went to war as well. Also for a full recovery for you post surgery. Good to see you poke your head in.

Hey Dana — Good to hear from you as always. Your comments remind of that magnificent song from Les Miserables… “Empty Chairs and Empty Tables.” Much love to all of you today. So thankful for the friendship, caring of this community… big hearts, big brains, and most of all big balls… that’s the people of Paine.TV.

We had a prayer and open house and hugs up at Boundary Marker #1. A couple people came and a veteran from Canada on a motorcycle brought his trumpet and played taps and a hymn.

Normally this is a busy weekend that kicks off the Summer season, but it was really quiet. Classic car club did a lap, but only half the cars and trucks they usually have.

The people who came said it was the best, but that is because ‘you know Who and gang showed up’.

Hey Dana! Great to hear you’re coming along well. You’ve been on my mind and finally got a chance to see your post. As a high school teacher, my most humbling experience was when one of my students was killed in Iraq only a couple of years after he warmed a seat in my classroom. I’ve gone out to visit his gravesite and this Memorial Day was only thinking of him as I was out of state. To go to the veterans’ cemetery is truly humbling and everyone should get there at least once. To see the dates of the youngsters wiped out in their prime…for what? Someone said bankers’ wars. We now realize that. So tragic. Anyway, thank you for the reminder. I’ll be visiting my 97-year-old WWII uncle next week at a nursing home for vets…he was in the occupation of Japan so one of the only ones left and is still getting along! Fortunately, the staff treasures those guys and it’s so inspiring to see the care they give them. To know so many men, both young and old, have served the nation selflessly surely does deserve more respect than most of us give at any time. Take care and continue on the path to tying those shoes!
