Again and Again….

Monday 12/11/23: Hey, I know y’all are probably weary of hearing of our health misadventures, but I didn’t want you to think my conspicuous absences were my playing hookie because of drink or dissipation. When I arrived at the hospital in Greensboro,NC this morning (where they moved Trish a week ago), they were putting Trish into an ambulance and transferring her back to the hospital in Winston Salem, NC where she had her two brain surgeries, and had stayed since September. On Saturday, we noticed some swelling around her incision and pointed it out to hospital staff. They did a CT scan of Trish’s head, and yesterday determined there was an over abundance of fluid on her brain. The hospital doctor felt it was a problem they were not equipped to handle, so the sent her back to be under the care of the original neurosurgery department that performed her two brain surgeries. She is currently back in the ER at said original hospital, and is awaiting another CT scan and evaluation by Neurosurgery. Sorry to sound like a broken record. More as I know it. Prayers welcome and appreciated. Love y’all/miss y’all!

Hey Dana! It’s good to hear from you! To me this seems a temporary setback… and a good sign that the facility is sufficiently self reflective to say that she needs folks with more specialized resources or skills. Of course, going back to the place of such struggle must be stressful… hell I’m not even there and I’m feeling stress about this development. But anxiety and stress are not terribly helpful, certainly not what you need from an outsider with limited insight and experience. So I stand by my initial assertion, this is something that Trish needs to have attended to… my job is to be an honest, steadfast, and supportive friend to one of the finest people I could hope to know. You got this and I, and the entire Paine community has your back, of this I am certain. Much love and keep us posted as you see fit. Cheers.

Thank you for the update. We have you in our Conversations often.
I’ll share an anecdote of encouragement. We have a woman and her daughter at my church who I met back in March when they started coming. The mom was twisted up in a wheelchair and when I would sit by her it made me very upset because I could ‘feel’ she was in tremendous pain. I just talked to them and found out she was a classical musician and named her kids Serenity and some other musical names that I forgot because they don’t come.
Sometimes she’d even have to leave the service due to pain. We do lay hands and pray, but my pastor asks us to leave it to whoever is ministering or him, for good reasons. So as far as I knew, she didn’t get any special prayer.
At the beginning of November, she wasn’t using her wheelchair as much and was up moving around more. Three weeks ago she came up and testified that she is out of the wheelchair totally and healed from severe rheumatoid arthritis. She said she had her daughter read verses from that list I told Mike and you about in the middle of the night or whenever the pain got really bad. They moved into a new place in November and she marked that as being free from the pain and out of the wheelchair.

Now, when I am around her, there IS no pain vibe and she and her daughter are so, so happy. They never said anything, but for a month, they were also homeless and living in a tent, but financially, they are coming around too.
Yesterday, as they walked… normal speed into the auditorium I commenced to dancing all around -which isn’t a ‘Canadian’ thing to do, but they get what they get.
One of the young bucks saw me dancing from the lobby asked my husband, what in the world is Kathryn doing there? “Oh she is just so happy she’s healed and free from pain, that was really bothering her.”

I can still see that one hand is twisted up a little, but I expect that will get fixed too. One lady I prayed for that had severe arthritis for 30 years, had it leave her whole body except for one thumb in less than a minute and it never came back for 6 or 7 years now. She was almost 80 and fell down hard on concrete in the church lobby and probably broke her arm. I had my hand on where it hurt and the other hand under her palm and our eyes were shut praying. When I got done, she said ‘Wow, I could feel you squeezing that down and out of my arm and all the pain got pulled out.” I had about 20 people gathered around and they were going to call an ambulance.
I just laughed and said, “I never moved my hands one little bit, that was the Holy Spirit pulling it out and fixing it!”
As long a He is fixing stuff, I asked if we could check so I touched both her wrists and ‘felt around’. “Do you have arthritis?” She said yes, so I told her we may as well get rid of that too. Arthritis operates like cancer, so you curse it at the root and tell it to get out. Then you pray for all damage to be healed, everything re-aligned and restoration of any damage.
I call that lady ‘Dancing Jen’ because oh we were dancing!
That day I checked with her after the service, because if she did break her arm being that old, there would be swelling and pain, but Nope!
3 weeks later, she was having a hand brace on so that’s when I found out her thumb still hurt. Told her I knew what happened, does she want to know why? Yes.

“Well you probably broke your arm and fixing that took a lot of power. Then all that arthritis up in your joints and spine for so long, that’s a mess. I think that both God and Jesus were leaning in and giving the biggest push, but when it got to that thumb, They nearly fell off Their thrones and it was just too much.”
    “What? No!” she said.
I laughed and said, “No, it’s super easy for God to fix us, He made us.” What it is though is that He heals us because He loves us and Jesus took our sins and sickness and even injuries. Everything bad that happens here because of sin.
“If you’ll just talk to your thumb and remind it your whole body is healed and tell that arthritis to get gone, it will all go. You should be thanking God every day and very much for healing you.” I had developed arthritis and it runs in my family, but I got healed when I was blind for a year. So I knew some of how it is to hurt day and night. No bueno.
The next week, she told me it left in 3 days, but she was going to remember to be thankful.
2 anecdotes… but very few people have anything better to do than hear about miracles and thank God for them. We overcome by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimonies.

I do love me some miracles! If I dance, I dance and sometimes I just dance around my house. Not being dead is my favorite. Seeing people get free from pain, fear, loneliness, incurable stuff, second favorite.

Thank you all, so much. We’re still in the ER and still have no idea of what’s going on. Trish’s blood pressure has been dropping, to which they are medicating her to bring it up. She’s also been running a fever. Everything being told to me is cryptic; like no one wants to commit to anything. A nurse just let it slip that they will be moving her to the ICU, but no one can tell me anything other than that they are concerned about her BP being so low. Still waiting on Neurosurgery for further information from Trish’s CT scan.

Now two doctors just came in and said they are hitting Trish with two mega-antibiotics because they fear she has Sepsis. Saturday she was awake, alert, gesturing with her hands and eyes, and singing along with the music…. Hug your loved ones, and tell them you love them every chance you get. You just never know. Like Mike says, “things can turn on a dime.”
