  Govt adds to the pain of inflation.

  While not huge dollars, just seems wrong. Given the state of things now. While a lot of fines are Mitigated down, just adding more pain.

  Last Friday, the Department of Homeland Security released its annual inflation adjustments to civil penalties that can be assessed against regulated entities (attached). This includes civil penalties issued by the Transportation Security Administration (air forwarding) and the U.S. Coast Guard (ocean forwarding of hazmat). Of note, the civil penalty for violations of TSA’s security programs committed by IACs and CCSFs is increasing from $13,910 to $14,074. This is an increase of about 1.18%. The new amounts will be effective for civil penalties assessed after the notice is published in Federal Register, which should happen this week.
