28 Days Later, The Biden Administration Still Has Not Released An OSHA Employer Vaccine Mandate – On September 9, President Biden called on OSHA to implement a vaccine mandate for employers. In the ensuing days, I wrote several blog posts that parsed a non-existent rule (1, 2, 3, and 4). I fully expected the rule to be issued imminently, which would trigger a mad dash to the courts. Yet, 28 days later, we still do not have a proposed rule. What is going on? Where is the urgency?

I have a few tentative thoughts. First, OSHA planned to adopt an Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS). This fast-track process bypasses the usual notice-and-comment process. Perhaps the agency determined that it needs more time to make its rule iron-clad. Admittedly, this process is very complicated. And the need for deliberation counsels in favor of seeking public comments, not rushing through the policy unilaterally. Ultimately, this delay undermines the case for emergency action. – READ MORE

Pfizer Asks U.S. To Allow COVID Shots For Kids Age 5 To 11 – Pfizer has asked the U.S. government to allow the use of its COVID-19 vaccine in children ages 5 to 11.

If approved, children could begin getting vaccinated within weeks.

“Many parents and pediatricians are clamoring for protection for children younger than 12, today’s age cutoff for the vaccine made by Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech,” the Associated Press reported. “Not only can youngsters sometimes get seriously ill, but keeping them in school can be a challenge with the coronavirus still raging in poorly vaccinated communities.” – READ MORE

FILE – In this Jan. 21, 2021, file photo, a medical staff member prepares the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at Tudor Ranch in Mecca, Calif. COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. are coming down again, hospitalizations are dropping, and new cases per day are about to dip below 100,000 for the first time in two months — all signs that the summer surge is waning. Not wanting to lose momentum, government leaders and employers are looking at strengthening and expanding vaccine requirements. (AP Photo/Jae C. Hong, File)

Studies confirm waning immunity from Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine – The studies, from Israel and from Qatar and published in the New England Journal of Medicine, support arguments that even fully vaccinated people need to maintain precautions against infection.
One study from Israel covered 4,800 health care workers and showed antibody levels wane rapidly after two doses of vaccine “especially among men, among persons 65 years of age or older, and among persons with immunosuppression.” – READ MORE

Washington state’s UW Medicine says it will drop unvaccinated patients from wait list for organ transplant – The University of Washington Medical Center says patients who refuse to get a COVID vaccine before an organ transplant will be dropped from the wait list.

Patients must be fully vaccinated before their procedures unless they have a specific medical exception that prevents them from getting the vaccine, UW Medicine says. – READ MORE

White House: We Want to Keep Gas Prices Low, but ‘Climate Crisis Can’t Wait’ – The White House indicated Wednesday that governments across the globe should not walk back green energy commitments despite growing fossil fuel shortages and price hikes.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki was asked during the daily briefing if the White House is concerned that fuel shortages in Europe will impact green energy pledges ahead of the Glasgow Climate Change Summit in December. – READ MORE

FBI conducting ‘intersectionality’ training for employees – The Federal Bureau of Investigation hosted an employee training session focused on the concept of intersectionality, according to new documents.

The documents came to light shortly after it was revealed Attorney General Merrick Garland directed the FBI to investigate “threats of violence” at school board meetings in what critics have described as an effort to crack down on parents who oppose critical race theory in schools.  – READ MORE

Newsom, Who May Have Helped His Own Mother Commit Assisted Suicide, Streamlines Process For Californians – California Governor Gavin Newsom on Tuesday signed a bill to streamline the assisted suicide process for terminally ill patients who wish to end their own lives.

The bill will slash the current 15-day waiting period for patients to get the lethal drugs to a mere 48 hours. The law also requires health care providers to post their physician-assisted suicide policies on their websites. – READ MORE

Why Shortages Are Permanent: Global Supply Shortages Make Fantastic Financial Sense –Global corporations didn’t go to all the effort to establish quasi-monopolies and cartels for our convenience–they did it to ensure reliably large profits from control and scarcity. Not all scarcities are artificial, i.e. the result of cartels limiting supply to keep prices high; many scarcities are real, and many of these scarcities can be traced back to the stripping out of redundancy / multiple suppliers of industrial essentials to streamline efficiency and eliminate competition.

Recall that competition and abundance are anathema to profits. Wide open competition and structural abundance are the least conducive setting for generating reliably ample profits, while quasi-monopolies and cartels that control scarce supplies are the ideal profit-generating machines. – READ MORE
